The 2010 Oil and Gas High Performance Computing Workshop will be the fifth workshop in this series and the third hosted by the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology at Rice University. The main objective for this series of workshops is to provide a venue focusing on specific trends, needs and requirements from oil & gas industry users of scientific computing and HPC; as well as foster interaction with information technology industry, academic research communities and educators working on solutions to challenges faced by the oil & gas industry. Each workshop will focus on theme(s) and the 2010 workshop will be focused on two main topics: (1) large-scale end-to-end application performance, with emphasis on capability or throughput, and (2) training, education, and workforce competencies, needs and gaps.
